I trained as volunteer advisor for this National Organisation and completed a number of courses and workshops. Some were aimed at improving subject knowledge such as welfare benefits and legal rights. Other courses appertained to the skills required, for example listening and communication skills.
My regular duties for the bureau involved meeting clients and assisting then to solve their problems. Predominantly these would be issues involving debt, housing (repairs and eviction) and welfare benefits however the bureau would deal with any issue or problem.
